Mana in Mahi - up-skilling NZ jobseeker

Mana in Mahi offers employers financial incentives should they be in a position to offer Work and Income eligible job seekers an apprenticeship or agreed industry-related qualification.  Although it is focused at youth (18 - 24 year olds), all Work and Income registered job seekers will be considered.

The majority of job seekers who partake in Mana in Mahi will start their paid employment on day one, and it’s expected that they would embark on an industry qualification by around their six-month work anniversary.  For these participants, assistance offered to the employer includes a wage subsidy for 52 weeks (in staged payments) as well as providing funding for pre-employment training, basic tools and equipment needed to commence (this is a capped amount).  In addition, the employee receives incentive payments at the three, six and 12 month milestones of continuous employment.

Ongoing support is provided to both the employer and successful job seeker throughout the year of subsidy and employment.  For more information please click here.
