Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice, Level 4


This qualification suits all industries and has a flexible structure to meet different needs. Safety supervisors, coordinators or team leaders will be the main candiates for the qualification and Health and Safety Responsibilities must form part of their role. The content assumes the candidate holds a National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety - Workplace Safety (Level 3) or has equivalent experience. Candidates need the full support of their workplace, with access to systems and data for assessment work.

  • The requirements of effective Health & Safety Management including Health & Safety plan implementation

  • How to develop and implement hazard management systems

  • Incident investigation using proven and recognised methodology; how to address findings and implement changes

  • Auditing, assessing and improving Health & Safety management systems

  • Communicate, implement, supervise and monitor job-specific Health & Safety requirements and practices in the workplace

  • Use leadership skills to promote the benefits of good Health & Safety practices, and a proactive Health & Safety culture, within a team

  • Apply your knowledge of Health & Safety risk analyses and mitigation strategies

  • Understand the impact of work-related ill health and injuries on a specific business operation and the wider industry


Eight days (4 X 2 day blocks), 9.00am - 4.00pm

- Module 2:  7 - 8 June2018
- Module 3:  4 - 5 July 2018
- Module 4:  6 - 7 August 2018

Includes extensive course notes, assessment, tea or coffee on arrival, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day.

This qualification has qualified for the NZTE Capability Development voucher programme | Regional Business Partner
