Brief Overview
This course overviews and introduces the concepts of the exporting process. We will follow the system from ‘first order enquiry’ to order ‘completion’. The various checklists associated with this course will highlight what is required before the decision to export is made and help stop the possible pitfalls that can await the unwary. No prior knowledge of exporting is assumed.

• Doing our homework – the desk research phase.
• Business decision to be made – logistics, culture, product
• Getting to ‘know’ the market and the locals?
• Barriers to trade – (tariff, officials)
• Distribution options – (freight, pricing currency, documentation)
• Product considerations – (labelling, packaging, quality, forecasts, and orders).
• Payment mechanisms - (Sight draft, letter of credit etc.)
• Terminology (FOB, CFR etc)
